Once a turtle family set out for picnic. Turtles being naturally slow in everything, took two years to prepare. They set out and found a spot after three years. They unpacked their picnic kit for six months and then discovered that they had forgotten salt. Picnic without salt would be a disaster. They decided after much argument to send the youngest turtle to fetch the salt. He too agreed but on one condition that no one would eat until he returned. Everyone agreed and he left.

Two years, three years, five years and seven years passed but he did not return. In the seventh year the eldest of them not able to control his hunger opened a sandwich packet.

Suddenly the youngest one popped out from behind a tree and said, ¡°Didn¡¯t I tell you, you wouldn¡¯t wait for me! Now I am not going to fetch the salt.¡±
